The challenge

The Hub at Buckshaw is not one business, it is five under one roof in Buckshaw Village, Chorley. An Ofsted rated Outstanding, Millie's Mark accredited day nursery. A state of the art swimming pool. A cafe. A hair and beauty salon. An out of school club. A parent can drop the little ones at nursery, take the older ones to the out of school club, book a swimming lesson, grab a coffee and fit in a salon appointment, all at the same address. Each service has its own audience, its own opening hours and its own phone line, and the old WordPress site had to speak for all of them at once. It was slow, dated and hard to find in search.

The brief was to keep everything that makes the place feel like one welcoming family destination, while giving each service enough room to sell itself properly. It also had to be genuinely fast, easy to use on a phone, and built to be found by parents searching across Buckshaw Village, Chorley and Leyland. None of the search visibility built up over the years could be lost in the move.

What we built

We rebuilt the entire site from the ground up on Laravel, as a fast, static-content brochure site with a single clean enquiry form. No slow plugins, no moving parts to break, just quick pages that load.

  • Five services, one brand. The nursery, Splash swimming pool, Cappuccino Cafe, hair and beauty salon and Hub Club each get their own deep section of pages, with their own direct phone line and opening hours, while a shared navy and green look, elegant serif display type and leaf motifs hold it all together as a single family destination.
  • A regulated nursery given proper space. The nursery section runs to around two dozen pages covering curriculum and the EYFS, facilities across every room, staff, security, nutrition, session times, SEN support and 30 hours free childcare, the depth a parent researching an Outstanding setting expects to find.
  • One enquiry, no friction. A single contact form is the front door for the whole site. It carries a service dropdown so an enquiry arrives already tagged to the nursery, the salon, the pool, the cafe or the club, then sends a clean, ready-to-action email straight to the team. Every other call to action across the site routes cleanly to that form or to the right direct phone line.
  • Search built into the foundations. Every page ships with its own title, meta description, canonical, Open Graph and Twitter cards, plus local geo signals for Lancashire and en-GB throughout, so each service ranks on its own merits.
  • Rich structured data. A site-wide schema layer describes the organisation and each service as its own local business, with the right opening hours and areas served, plus breadcrumb, FAQ and article data per page, the kind of detail search engines and AI answer engines read to describe a business accurately.
  • Local landing pages. Dedicated pages for the searches that bring in local families, from a Buckshaw nursery in Chorley and a pre-school in Leyland to swimming lessons in Chorley, so the Hub shows up where its customers actually are.
  • Every old web address preserved. We mirrored the previous WordPress URL structure exactly and added permanent redirects for the handful that changed, so years of hard-won search equity carried across intact.

Answer-first, built for AI search

Beyond classic SEO, the site is written to be quoted. Pages open with a short, answer-first summary, then back it with real FAQ sections wired to structured data, so a parent, or an AI assistant answering on their behalf, gets a clear response straight away. The dynamically generated robots file deliberately welcomes the answer-engine crawlers behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google and Claude, so the Hub is visible in the places families increasingly ask.

Fast, accessible and built to last

Performance and accessibility were designed in, not added later. Self-hosted fonts, compiled and minified CSS and inline icons mean nothing waits on a third party to load. A skip link, clear active-state navigation, a keyboard-friendly mobile menu and respect for reduced-motion preferences make the site usable for everyone. To keep the writing consistent, a build-time check even fails the site if a stray dash slips into the copy.

A fast, accessible Laravel rebuild that gives five very different services their own space inside one brand, with a single clean enquiry form, comprehensive structured data and local search built into the foundations.

The result

The Hub at Buckshaw now has a single site that works as hard as the place itself. Each of the five services reads as its own destination, with the depth a nursery parent, a swimmer, a salon client or a cafe visitor is looking for, while the whole thing still feels like one warm family brand. Enquiries arrive tagged and ready to action, and the pages load quickly on any device.

Underneath, it is a modern, low-maintenance build with search and answer-engine visibility baked in, every old URL preserved, and accessibility handled properly. A dated WordPress site became a fast, confident shop window for everything under the Buckshaw roof, delivered and ready to launch.
