Varsuite
Cost

How much does an e-commerce website cost in the UK?

An online store from Varsuite costs £1,000 as a one-off build plus £150 a month, before VAT, and the build includes importing your existing products and prices and integrating third-party payment gateways. In the wider UK market, e-commerce sites are usually quoted per project, and the price climbs with three things: the size of your catalogue, the systems the store must integrate with, and how payments are handled.

In short
  • A Varsuite online store costs £1,000 to build plus £150 a month, before VAT. A £100 deposit secures the build and the £900 balance is due when you approve the finished store.
  • The build includes importing your existing products and prices, and integrating third-party payment gateways.
  • The £150 a month covers hosting, security monitoring, unlimited revisions and changes within fair and reasonable use, daily AI blog, SEO and AIO automation, and a custom dashboard with sales and forecasts.
  • The cost drivers are the same whoever builds your store: catalogue size and the state of your product data, the systems the store must talk to, and payments.
  • Payment processing fees are charged by your payment provider, not by us, so they sit on top of any build cost whichever route you take.

What actually drives the cost of an online store?

Three things, and they apply to every builder in the market, not just us. The first is your catalogue: how many products you have, and the state their data is in. Photos, descriptions, prices and variants all have to end up in the store somehow, and when a quote is priced per project, a big or messy catalogue makes it grow.

The second is integrations: whatever the store has to stay in step with, from stock levels to accounts. The third is payments, which is really two costs in one: setting the gateway up, and the processing fees the payment provider charges on every sale afterwards. Those fees belong to the provider, not the builder, and they apply whoever builds the store, so keep them in your running costs rather than your build budget.

What does £1,000 plus £150 a month include?

The £1,000 build covers the store itself, and we import all your existing products and prices as part of it rather than leaving the catalogue to you. Third-party payment gateways are integrated so you can take payment from day one. You pay a £100 deposit to secure the build, and the £900 balance is due when you approve the finished store. Both figures are before VAT.

The £150 a month then covers hosting, security monitoring, unlimited revisions and changes within fair and reasonable use, a custom dashboard with sales and forecasts, and daily AI blog, SEO and AIO automation, so the store is marketed as well as maintained. The full picture is on our pricing page, and our e-commerce service covers what a store build involves.

What if your store needs more than the standard build?

Some stores do. Custom software, integrations and automations beyond the standard store are individually scoped and quoted, starting from £1,000, and anything that goes beyond an agreed scope is re-scoped with a revised quote before it is carried out. Additional work is only chargeable once you have agreed it, so the price does not drift on you mid-build.

What ongoing costs should you plan for?

VAT where it applies, since all our fees are exclusive of it. Payment processing fees on every sale, charged by your payment provider under its own terms. Domain registration, and advertising spend if you run ads. Under our terms those third-party charges are yours, and that is true of any builder, whether or not their quote mentions it.

And the £150 a month itself: it is what keeps the store hosted, monitored and changeable, so treat it as part of the real cost of trading online. If the monthly subscription ends, the hosting, monitoring and changes it covers end with it.

Follow-up questions

Can you move my existing products across?

Yes. Importing your existing products and prices is part of the standard £1,000 build, not an extra. The better shape your product data is in, the smoother that import is, which is true of any store migration.

Which payment providers can I use?

We integrate third-party payment gateways as part of the build. Your use of a payment platform is subject to its own terms and fees, and under our terms we are not responsible for a third-party platform's availability, decisions, fees or changes, so the choice of provider is one we settle with you during scoping rather than a fixed list.

Is the marketing content really included in the £150 a month?

Yes. Daily AI blog, SEO and AIO automation is part of the store plan, drafted by agents and checked by our team. If you want content marketing beyond what the store plan produces, standalone plans start from £100 a month on our pricing page.

What happens if I cancel the monthly fee?

The hosting, monitoring and changes it covers end with it. You can cancel with at least 30 days' written notice, taking effect at the end of the current paid month, and you remain responsible for keeping your own copies of the content and data you need.
